If You're Been Ordered to Mediate...
Many court systems in Georgia require parties to attempt to resolve their dispute through mediation before they are entitled to trial.
Typically, when a case is referred to a court-annexed Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, a "Notice of Referral to Mediation/ADR" is issued which gives the parties 10 days to select their ADR process (either mediation or case evaluation) and select their mediator or case evaluator. If the parties don't respond in time, a mediation will be scheduled with a randomly selected mediator in govenment offices.

If you have been, or will be ordered to mediate your dispute, why not make it worthwhile? Working with one of our mediators can satisfy the Court's order to mediate and give you the best possible chance for resolving your dispute. The difference in cost is minimal and you will enjoy a range of amenities that government facilities don't offer: free on-site parking, snack and beverage service, comfortable, spacious meeting rooms, wireless internet service and privacy.
We suggest that you select a mediator who is certified with the court that has referred your case to mediation. Please browse our mediator profiles to find a mediator that can work with you.
Opting-Out of Cobb County Superior Court's ADR Program
If you have been referred to the Cobb County ADR Office, you may work with any member of The Center for Legal Solutions' Panel of Mediators who is registered as a civil or domestic mediator with the Cobb Superior Court ADR Office. At this time, every member of our Panel of Mediators is registered with the Cobb ADR Office. Because The Center for Legal Solutions offers the same fee structure as the Cobb Superior Court ADR Program, that Office simply requests notice by telephone or letter that the mediation will take place at a different, private location.
If you have been referred to the Cobb ADR Office and wish to work with a mediator who is not on their list of civil or domestic mediators, the parties are required to file a "Consent Order" with the Cobb County ADR Office, 30 Waddell Street, Marietta, GA 30090-9642, which that office submits to the appropriate judge for approval, which is routinely given. A sample Consent Order for Referral to Private Provider of Mediation Services is available on this site.
See Cobb County Superior Court's Rules for Court-Annexed Mediation for further information.
Opting-Out of the 7th Judicial Administrative District Mediation Program
The 7th J.A.D. Mediation Program covers the Superior Courts of Bartow, Douglas, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding and Polk Counties. Nearly all contested civil and domestic cases in these Superior Courts are subject to mandatory mediation.
Parties to a case pending in one of these counties may mediate their dispute at The Center for Legal Solutions with a mediator registered with the 7th J.A.D. Mediation Program simply by indicating "The Center for Legal Solutions, 65 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, GA 30064" as the location of their mediation on the 7th J.A.D.'s Mediation Scheduling Form which the parties sign and fax or mail to the 7th J.A.D.'s Office. At this time, nearly all members of The Center for Legal Solutions' Panel of Mediators are registed with the 7th J.A.D.'s Mediation Program.
Parties to a case pending in one of the counties cover by the 7th J.A.D. may mediate their dispute at The Center for Legal Solutions with a mediator who is not registered with the 7th J.A.D. Mediation Program by filing a Consent Order for Private Mediation with the 7th J.A.D.'s Office which is forwarded to the presiding judge for signature, which is routinely granted.
See Seventh Judicial Administrative District's Mediation Rules and Scheduling Procedures for further information.
Opting-Out of the 9th Judicial Administrative District Mediation Program
The 9th J.A.D. Mediation Program covers the Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Habersham, Hall, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White Counties. Nearly all contested civil and domestic cases in the Superior Courts in these counties are subject to mandatory mediation.
Parties to a case pending in one of these counties that has been referred to ADR may mediate their dispute at The Center for Legal Solutions by simply informing the 9th J.A.D. Mediation Program of the date, time and location of their mediation with one of Cobb Mediaton's state-registered mediators. Parties that wish to fulfill their referral to ADR with a private mediator who, unlike the members of The Center for Legal Solutions' Panel of Mediators, is not registered with the state should contact the 9th J.A.D. Office for further instructions.
See Ninth Judicial Administrative District's ADR Operating Rules for further information.
